About this course

UEEIC0013 - Develop, enter and verify discrete control programs for programmable controllers

Introduction to Industrial Automation is a complete introduction to all things automation and can be delivered as an accredited unit of competency or a non-accredited short course.

You will be introduced to the principles of automation including pneumatic theory, electrical relay theory, PLC theory, and all associated practicals. The electrical theory and practicals are the underlying knowledge required to understand PLC ladder diagram. This forms the first half of the course. The second half is spent programming and commissioning a Skills Lab training platform to operate to a scope of work. This course has been mapped to the UEEIC0013 - Develop, enter and verify discrete control programs for programmable controllers, unit of competency. It includes all formal assessments which must be successfully completed under supervision of a TAE qualified assessor in order to obtain the accreditation.

The accredited course has a prerequisite unit UEECD0007 - Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace. We offer this unit to those that have not already completed it. If required, this unit must be commenced prior to attending the Introduction to Automation course, with self-paced study using the learner resources in the Skills Lab learning management system and completion of a knowledge assessment.

The practical component must be completed as part of this prerequisite, which could then be recognised as one of the assessments for UEEIC0013. More details can be found here.
